Notice 10 of 2017

Subsea Operations - Neptune Yard, Wallsend.

5th June 2017 

Notice is hereby given that commencing around Monday 5th June 2017 for a period of circa 21 days, subsea operations will take place in the vicinity of Neptune Yard, Wallsend.

These may include, but are not limited to, diving and ROV operations. This will take place outside the navigable channel. However, operations may be conducted up to 20 metres away from the quayside.

A safety boat will be in attendance during operations.

When diving operations are being conducted a rigid replica of Flag A of the International Code of Signals will be exhibited.

This site location is identified in red.

Mariners are requested to pass at slow speed so as to avoid creating a wash.

Training exercise - Lower Harbour

8th May 

Notice is hereby given that commencing on Tuesday 20th June 2017 until Thursday 22nd June 2017, training exercises will take place between 0800 and 1700 in the vicinity of the Herd Sand Buoy, Lower Harbour, River Tyne.

This area is bounded by red.

During this time a number of small craft, together with boom systems and spraying equipment will be operating.

A safety boat will be in attendance and shall maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12.

Mariners are requested to avoid this area during these periods, are reminded of the requirement to navigate with caution, and to maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12.

Site Investigation - Tyne Car Terminal

Monday 3rd April 2017.

Notice is hereby given that commencing around Monday 3rd April 2017 and for a period of between 14 and 28 days, site investigations will take place in the intertidal zone between Tyne Car Terminal berths and the shoreline.

This area is bounded by red on the chart.

During this time a 6m x 6m pontoon array will be located in the area indicated on the chart.

A safety boat will be in attendance when the pontoon barge is manned and shall maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12.

The pontoon will be lit at night by a single all-round white light.

Mariners are also reminded of the requirement to Navigate with caution and pass at the slowest practicable speed so as to avoid creating a wash, and to maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12.

Gateshead Quayside - Navigation Restrictions

Sea Installer - Swan Hunters Quayside, Wallsend.

Notice is hereby given that commencing on Tuesday 22nd March 2017 and for a period of circa 28 days, the vessel SEA INSTALLER will be located adjacent to the quayside at Swan Hunters, Wallsend.

This site location is identified in red.

The vessel will be positioned approximately 10 metres away from the quayside, meaning the vessel will be located 20 metres into the north side of the navigable channel.

Mariners are advised to pass with caution.

Site Investigation - Swan Hunters Quayside, Wallsend.

30th January 2017

Notice is hereby given that commencing around Monday 6th February 2017 and for a period of circa 21 days, site investigations will take place on the quayside at Swan Hunters, Wallsend.

This site location is identified in red.

The drilling rig will be positioned on the shore with no marine plant in the river. However, works will be undertaken on the waterline.

Mariners are requested to pass at slow speed so as to avoid creating a wash.

Notice is hereby given that commencing around Tuesday 24th January 2017 and for a period of between 14 and 28 days, site investigations will take place in the intertidal zone between Tyne Car Terminal berths and the shoreline.

This area is bounded by red.

During this time a 10m x 8m spud leg pontoon array will be located in the area indicated on the chart.

A safety boat will be in attendance when the pontoon barge is manned and shall maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12.

The pontoon will be lit at night by a single all-round white light.

Mariners are also reminded of the requirement to Navigate with caution and pass at the slowest practicable speed so as to avoid creating a wash, and to maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12.

New Navigation Beacon

Notice is hereby given that a new Starboard Hand navigation beacon with characteristic FLG 5s has been placed in Tyne Dock Basin marking the starboard side of the channel.

All Owners, Agents, Masters and Pilots, or any other persons navigating in this area should be made aware of this change, and adjust their passage plans accordingly.

River Tyne - Felling Reach
St. Peters Beacon

Notice is hereby given that the Starboard Hand Beacon, FL(3)G 10s opposite Friars Goose, Felling Reach, position 54o57.819' N, 001o 33.903' W has been removed from station following its recent collapse. A temporary special mark has been in place with yellow light characteristic FlY 5s.

All Owners, Agents, Masters and Pilots, or any other persons navigating in this area should be made aware of this change, and adjust their passage plans accordingly.

River Tyne - Newcastle & Gateshead Quayside
Sunday 12th June 2016 - 90 GLORIOUS YEARS PARADE

Notice is hereby given that the River Tyne between the Swing Bridge and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge will be used for the 90 GLORIOUS YEARS PARADE of small craft and demonstration by the Royal Marines between1300 and 1330 on Sunday 12th June 2016.

Vessels not participating in the event should navigate with caution, keep watch on VHF channel 12 and be prepared to follow instructions of police/event craft before entering the area.

Notice 15 of 2015

River Tyne-Dunston Staithes-vicinity of damaged section

Notice is hereby given that an obstruction has been located in position 54o 57.49’ N, 001o 37.86’W, at a height of approximately 0.60m above Chart Datum. This appears to be a steel girder.

The object will be marked with a buoy on Friday 30th October 2015. All vessels navigating in the vicinity should keep well clear of this area of Dunston Staithes until further notice.

River Tyne - Wallsend - Swans Bend
From Tuesday 29th September 2015

Further to Port of Tyne Navigation Notice 14 of 2014.

Notice is hereby given that on 22nd May 2015 a total of 3 special marks will be deployed in Tyne Dock Basin in the area of Riverside Quay / McNulty Quay.

These buoys marking the east end of construction works for the extension to Riverside Quay and the west end of construction works to McNulty Quay.

The West Yellow Special marks (RSQ1 and RSQ2) light characteristic FI Y 5s, The East yellow Special Mark (MQ) light characteristic FI Y 2.5s.

This buoy is expected to be in place until October 2015.

Notice 14 of 2014

River Tyne
Riverside Quay Extension

Notice is hereby given that work to extend Riverside Quay by 120m will commence on or after 1st January 2015 and last for approximately 12 months.

During this time craft and other obstructions may be encountered in the area of the works (as indicated below).

The Navigation Light 2FR marking the NE corner of Riverside Quay will be extinguished on or about 8th December 2015.

A further Navigation Notice will be issued on completion of the works and re-instatement of any lights.Mariners should exercise caution in this area.
